<p>The present invention relates to a machine for marking articles (100), this machine including at least a marking head configured to apply a marking force (F10) on an article (100) along to a first axis (X10); a positioning system for positioning the article (100) facing the marking head, wherein the article (100) is positioned generally along a second axis (Y70) perpendicular to the first axis (X10); and a support system (30) for supporting the article (100) during its marking by the marking head (10). The positioning system comprises at least one carriage-turret (70) for supporting the article (100). When the article (100) is positioned facing the marking head by the at least one carriage-turret (70), this carriage-turret (70) has a degree of freedom along a direction which is parallel to the first axis (X10). The support system (30) and/or the at least one carriage-turret (70) includes backlash means (36) along a direction parallel to a third axis (Z30), which is perpendicular to the first axis (X10) and the second axis (Y70), to compensate for the shape defects of the article (100) during application of the marking force (F10).
