Described is a needle safety device comprising a needle hub, a needle coupled to the needle hub and having a distal tip, a sleeve coupled to the needle hub, a needle shield telescopically coupled to the sleeve; and a needle disabling mechanism coupled to the needle. In a first axial position, the needle shield covers the distal tip of the needle and the needle disabling mechanism is in a first angular position. In a retracted position, the needle shield is retracted relative to the needle exposing the distal tip of the needle. In a second axial position, the needle shield is distal of the first axial position and the needle disabling mechanism is in a second angular position bending the needle. |
