The method involves providing two printheads that are arranged transverse to a pressure direction (PF) such that edge areas (RB1, RB2) are overlapped to each other. The printheads are aligned to each other with activation of nozzles (5, 6) of nozzle regions, and non-activation of nozzles in transition regions is followed with the projection of the nozzles in the pressure direction. The non-activation nozzles in transition regions of the printheads are selectable activated to the nozzles of the nozzle regions of the two printheads.
