The device has a bearing structure (20) arranged with a rotation encoder (26) for detecting a relative rotation angle of the bearing structure with respect to fixed angle of the rotation encoder along a reference direction of a vehicle (10). A transmission unit (28) is connected at the rotational angle encoder for transmitting detected rotational angle value to an external navigation device. A trigger device (34) is released to activate the transmission unit for transferring a current rotational angle value to the external navigation apparatus. An independent claim is also included for a compass device.
