The use of pipelines using a buffer for storing compressed air produced by compressors. The pipelines are designed with large diameter and installed over large distances, where the compressed air is converted into electrical energy or movement energy at a remote consumer e.g. household or regional producer f energy, by using air-driven generators or pneumatic machines. Relief valves are provided for transferring excess energy to the environment.
