PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an obstacle in a recording medium that becomes obstruction when performing recording, and to suppress that the obstacle interferes with a recording mechanism while suppressing a waste of the recording medium.SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a support unit 10 for supporting a recording medium P; a recording mechanism 4 for recording on the recording medium P supported by the support unit 10 based on recording data; a moving mechanism 8 that can perform relative movement between the support unit 10 and the recording mechanism 4; and a detection unit 19 that can detect the obstacle in the recording medium P when performing recording without moving a detection position with respect to the recording mechanism 4 in a direction A of the relative movement and can move the detection position with respect to the recording mechanism 4 in the direction A of the relative movement. |
