An optical function integration unit (100) includes a semiconductor light amplifier (1), a photonics element (2), a mounting substrate (3), and pedestals (4) and (5). The pedestals (4) and (5) are provided on the mounting substrate (3). The semiconductor light amplifier (1) is mounted on the pedestal (4), and emits light from an active layer. The photonics element (2) is mounted on the pedestal (5). The photonics element (2) includes silicon waveguides (26A to 26C) through which light emitted from the semiconductor light amplifier (1) is guided.
