A member-joining method for joining a first plate-shaped section (2a) of a first member (2) with a second plate-shaped section (3a) of a second member (3) by laser welding, the method being provided with: a member placement process for disposing the first member (2) and the second member (3) so that the first plate-shaped section (2a) overlaps with the second plate-shaped section (3a) in the thickness direction; a first laser irradiation process for forming a melted section (4A) by irradiating laser light (L1) on the first plate-shaped section (2a) that overlaps the second plate-shaped section; and a second laser irradiation process for irradiating laser light, after the melted section (4A) has solidified and formed a fused-solidified section (4a), on the surface of the fused-solidified section (4a) toward the first plate-shaped section (3a) with the fused-solidified section (4a) therebetween to form a welded section (4b) obtained from an alloy resulting from fusing the fused-solidified section (4a) with the second plate-shaped section (3a) that faces the fused-solidified section (4a) and to join the first plate-shaped section (2a) to the second plate-shaped section (3a) via the welded section (4b).
