<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the degree of freedom in photographing by checking a photographed picture or a reproduced image without taking upside-down inversion of a camera body into consideration.SOLUTION: If a digital camera body is detected that this body is inverted upside down or if it is set upside down, recording is carried out upside down by a vertical inversion circuit 5-1 for reproduction recording. Display means provides a display while the upside-down position is maintained. Characters for status display are inverted upside down. Photographing can be carried out in the same manner as a camera that is not usually inverted upside down in terms of field angle check, state display, and recorded image.
