[Problem] To provide a catalyst for decomposing ammonia, which exhibits stable ammonia decomposition performance even if an exhaust gas contains SOx (SO2 and SO3) at a high concentration after a NOx reduction catalyst system using an ammonia-based reducing agent for purification of an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine such as a marine diesel engine, or the like. [Solution] A catalyst for decomposing ammonia in an exhaust gas, which uses, as a catalyst base, a NOx reduction catalyst loaded with titanium oxide and vanadium oxide, or alternatively a NOx reduction catalyst loaded with titanium oxide, vanadium oxide and tungsten oxide, while having the catalyst base additionally loaded with zinc, calcium and phosphorus that serve as catalytically active components. In this connection, the exhaust gas is an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine such as a marine diesel engine, or the like, and contains ammonia and sulfur oxide. |
