<p>The present invention provides system for tracking a user accessing an Internet resource on a content server that comprises an encoder arranged to generate an encoded URL comprising information related to a user ID, with the encoded URL pointing to a tracking server. A mechanism is provided for sending the encoded URL to a client device of the user. The client device receives an indication from the user that the user wishes to visit the encoded URL, and sends a request to the tracking server. On receipt of the request from the client device, the tracking server is arranged to obtain the information related to the user ID of the user from encoded URL, and to redirect the browser of the client device to a URL on the content server corresponding to the predetermined resource.</p> |
