<p>A method of managing balances of float accounts of a plurality of operating agents is provided in a financial system wherein each operating agent has a float account in which a credit balance is maintained against which the relevant operating agent is enabled to conduct financial transactions on behalf of customers. Appropriate financial transactions involving a transfer of money are recorded as either a debit or a credit with respect to the float account and operating agents are responsible to a liquidity agent. The method is conducted at a computerized server or a communications device of an operating agent and comprises the steps of: monitoring a balance of a float account of one or more operating agents; determining whether the balance of a float account reaches a predetermined threshold; and, sending a message to the liquidity agent when an operating agent's float account balance reaches the predetermined threshold.</p> |
