The device has a central, driver-assistance function-spreading trajectory generation unit (8) for generating a quantity of trajectories (9), which describe a movement of a vehicle based on an actual position of the vehicle. Driver assistance function units (3.1-3.M) receive and evaluate the quantity of the trajectories or a sub quantity of the trajectories, and trigger a reaction of a driver assistance function based on the evaluation. The generation unit is connected with the function units via a vehicle bus for transferring the quantity of the trajectories to the function units. An independent claim is also included for a method for driver assistance in a motor car.
