Provided are an apparatus and a method to detect a touch. An apparatus to detect a touch on a touch panel divided into a plurality of clusters and includes a plurality of sensor nodes of each cluster; includes a touch information detecting unit to detect information about a touch (hereinafter, referred to as′touch information′) and a position of a first cluster which a sensor node in which the touch occurs belongs to when the touch occurs; a cluster-relationship determining unit to select a second cluster concerned with the first cluster based on the touch information and the position of the first cluster; and a touch detection performing unit to try an detect only a touch on a sensor node included in the second cluster among all the sensor nodes included in the touch panel. |
