[Also in Groups XXV and XXVI] A rubber &c. ring 7 of triangular cross section is bonded to the undersurface of a screw &c. adjacent the shank to spread into a thin layer and form a seal when the nut &c. is tightened. A ring of encased rubber &c. is placed round the screw which has been coated with bonding material and is received in a mould having a bore that is a close fit for the shank of the screw. The upper end of the bore is counterbored to form the mould surface for the ring 7. Pressure is then applied to the screw and the mould is heated. Any surplus rubber forms an easily removable flash on the outer edges. According to the Provisional Specification a multiple mould is used.
