<p>Seating assembly (10, Fig.1) and method for securing a child or infant comprising at least two harness straps (46,48); an adjustment mechanism for adjusting upper portions of each of the harness straps, including a rigid engagement member, rod 120, and a biasing member 134, wherein the biasing member exerts a biasing force on a support member in an upwardly direction to adjust the upper portions of the straps; at least one crush feature 150,152,154,156 projecting outwardly from a rear surface 91 of part of the assembly, and opposing the engagement member, which is configured to plastically deform the crush feature upon impact of a predetermined force. Some of plurality of crush features may extend farther down rear surface and may be constructed of elastomeric material such as plastics or foam. A headrest 44 may be attached to the harness support member. Seat assembly may be an infant convertible seat, booster seat, high chair, or car seat for use in a motor vehicle or aircraft.</p> |
