The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating hepatic injury which includes davallialactone as an active ingredient. The davallialactone of the present invention can be effectively used for preventing and treating liver damages by showing excellent effects of reducing numerical values of liver enzymes (ALT, AST) in a liver damaged mouse into which a liver damage inducing agent is administered, suppressing necrosis of liver tissue; suppressing production of reactive oxygen species; suppressing lipid peroxidation; reducing oxidative stress such as reduction of SOD expression; TNF-α, iNOS; reducing factors related to inflammation of liver cells such as COX-2 and the likes; and reducing apoptosis of the liver cells. |
