Organo-silicon compounds of the general formula (CH3)3Si-[OSi(CH3)2]n-(CH2) m-S-CH2-COOM, wherein n is 0, 1 or 2, m is 2 or 3, and M represents lithium, sodium or potassium, are prepared by neutralizing the free acids with a base of the metal M. The compounds may also be prepared by using an ester of the acid referred to above which is hydrolyzable under the reaction conditions. The organo-silicon compounds may be employed as emulsifying agents for preparing aqueous emulsions of liquid organopolysiloxanes. In the examples, the following compounds are prepared: lithium, sodium and potassium 3-thia-7-trimethylsiloxy-7,7-dimethyl-7-silaheptanoate, and sodium 3-thia-6-sila-6,6-dimethylheptanoate and 3-thia-7 - sila - 7,7 - dimethyloctanoate. The above process may be modified by using an ester of the acid which is hydrolyzable under the reaction conditions. In the examples, lithium, sodium and potassium 3 - thia - 7 - trimethylsiloxy - 7,7 - dimethyl - 7 - silaheptanoate, and sodium 3-thia-6-sila-6,6-dimethylheptanoate and 3-thia-7-sila-7,7 dji, methyloctanoate are prepared.
