In a scraper conveyer having a chain movable along the central part of the conveyer trough and arms fixed to and projecting from both sides of the chain into U-shaped guide channels at the sides of the trough, the free ends of the arms are provided with rollers which engage in the guide channels, and scraper surfaces, disposed on the arms in front of the rollers in the direction of movement of the chain, are shaped to fit in and move in the said guide channels. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 2, in which the upper and lower conveyer runs travel in troughs 1, 2, scrapers 9 are attached to bars 8 projecting from an endless chain 7 and are shaped at their ends to travel in guide channels 5. Rollers 6. rotatably mounted on spindles at the ends of the arms 8, engage in the channels 5 behind the scrapers 9, projecting there slightly above the upper edge of the scrapers. The chain links are alternately connected by vertical and horizontal pins, whilst each second link is provided with members 13 which are engaged by the driving sprocket. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the arms themselves provide the scraping surfaces and are preferably formed of T or L-shaped section, the horizontal limb being cut away to form a space 11 to accommodate a roller 6 mounted on a spindle carried by the horizontal limb. |
