A method of installing a flare tip 40 on a flare stack, the method includes the steps of locating the flare tip in a cage 10; moving the cage containing the flare tip proximate to a conduit on the flare stack; and manoeuvring the cage to align the flare tip with the conduit. There is also described a cage for a flare tip. The cage comprising a frame 12 having a first end 14 and a second opposing end 16; a removable floor 18 extending across the second opposing end of the frame; and at least two wheels 20a, 20b attached to the second opposing end of the frame. The flare tip is secured to the cage frame using one or more attachment points 22 on the frame and one or more securing points 42 on the flare tip. The flare tip may include a flange 48 at its inlet which is securable to the removable floor of the cage. |
