The device (5) has a connecting unit (16) i.e. plug (7), where the device detects a charging condition of a battery type i.e. lithium-ion battery type. The device coverts a parameter e.g. open-circuit voltage, for another battery type i.e. lead battery type, corresponding to the charging condition. The device transfers the converted parameter to a battery charging condition device via the connecting unit so that charging condition is detected by the battery charging condition device of a vehicle (1).
