In a frame comprising a base to which is hinged a masking platen, a device operable by the platen during its opening movement ejects a light-sensitive sheet from its exposure position on the base, while means operable by the closing movement of the platen position correctly for exposure a light-sensitive sheet after it has been dropped on to the base. As shown, a platen 5 having a rectangular aperture is pivoted on a base member 1 and has a depending masking flange which fits within two lateral ledges 4 on the base beneath which the -lateral margins of the printing paper are located, the top and bottom edges of the paper being located by the paper ejecting member 13 and a lever 29 which projects through a gap 27 in the base 1. The platen is held closed on the base by a manually releasable latch 11. As the platen closes, a projection 20b on it moves past a pivoted lever 22 freely movable clockwise while a second projection 20a is followed by a clockwise-urged lever 19 pivoted at 19a which by means of a link 18 moves a lever 17 pivoted at 17a away from a pin 16 on the paper ejector 13. Simultaneously a slide 25 urged by a spring 24 towards the frame hinge follows an arm 23 on the platen so that the paper is moved against the ejector 13 by the clockwise movement of the spring-urged lever 29 which moves below the surface of the base 1 and by the anticlockwise movement of a pivoted lever 26 engaged by the slide. On raising the platen the slide is moved away from the hinge so that the lever 26 falls into the gap 27 in the base and simultaneously the projection 20b cause the lever 22 to raise the lever 21 from out of the notch 13a in the ejector 13 which is moved by the spring 15 to push the print into the receiver 3. Continued raising of the platen allows the projection 20b to pass the lever 22 and the projection 20a to cause the lever 17 to reengage the pin 16, which resets the ejector to the position shown tensioning the spring 15 and also causes the slide 25 to raise the lever 29 against its spring. To facilitate the initial positioning of the light-sensitive sheet, the base may have a black border 1a. Specification 345,503 is referred to. |
