A luminaire according to an embodiment includes a main body attached to an attachment surface such as the ceiling or the wall of a building. The luminaire includes a light-emitting surface substantially parallel to the attachment surface. A semiconductor light-emitting element is arranged on the light-emitting surface. A cover body having translucency is attached to the main body to cover the light-emitting surface. The inner surface of the cover body includes a refracting surface forming an acute angle with respect to an optical axis of light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting element. The outer surface of the cover body includes an outer peripheral surface projecting further to the outer side than a peripheral edge section of the main body. |
