The apparatus for detecting a vehicle comprises an image obtaining unit for obtaining a stereo image; a group classification unit for grouping objects based on depth information of pixels of the stereo image; and a vehicle detection unit for detecting an object, which has depth information belonging to a predetermined range, among the objects and contains unique characteristic information of the vehicle as a vehicle.
