An inscription apparatus (1) comprises inscription unit having laser light sources (4a, 4b) which are solid-state lasers, and light discharge bodies (8a, 8b) arranged next to one another, each light discharge body being coupled with a respective laser light source. The light discharge bodies direct laser light from the laser light sources onto containers (10) to be inscribed. An independent claim is included for a method for inscribing containers.
