<p>The method involves providing data signals for driving a supply line (4) connected to a lamp (2). A power supply unit (3) is connected to the supply line, and direct voltage is provided as power supply voltage for the lamp at the supply line, where the power supply unit changes polarity of supply voltage for transmission of data signals through the supply line. The lamp is provided to recognize the changing polarity of the power supply voltage resting against the supply line and to determine the recognized polarities of the data signals for controlling the lamp.
