1. A hinge assembly for an orthopedic brace, comprising:
an outer plate that fits over a lateral side of a hinge to protect mechanical components of the hinge; the outer plate comprising an inner surface, an outer surface, and a connection port formed on the inner surface and extending therefrom; a connecting member that engages the connection port, wherein the connection port includes a connector housing and a channel that guides the connecting member to an opening of the connector housing; and first and second hinge arms pivotably secured to the outer plate by the connecting member.
