The invention concerns an animal food with a core and coating of a palatability enhancing substance and method of production thereof, wherein the flavouring element (4) is injected by needles or other appropriate means into the extruded continuous mass at the outlet of the extruder to form an internal layer (5) and sprayed on the product obtained after cutting, drying and coating with fat of the extruded mass to form an external layer (11). The so formed food (7) contains 10 to 20% flavouring element (4) referred to total weight of the product. |
