The invention provides a button sewing machine which can fully ensure a width of space adjustment corresponding to a button hole space, and which is easy to switch substantial U-word sewing and X-word sewing. The button sewing machine (100) is provided with a button holding mechanism (40), a trace forming mechanism, a cam mechanism with a cam (51) with left and right mobile groove, a substantially U-word sewing groove cam (54) and a X-word sewing groove cam (55), a thread number adjusting mechanism (30), two swinging parts (56, 57) and a sewing selecting mechanism (58). Front parts of an arc guide part (56a, 57a) of the swinging part are opposite to each other. The arc guide part is applied to make the swing direction from the final direction before stop switching to the drop position of the first needle after stop identical by the thread number adjusting mechanism. Therefore, when button sewing of the button sewing machine selects at a certain cam part in substantial U-word sewing and X-word sewing, the needle drop starts at the same button hole. |
