PURPOSE: A time based authentication system and a method thereof are provided to have no need of a time synchronization between a server and a client in an OTP[One-Time Password]authentication of a time synchronization mode. CONSTITUTION: A transceiving module(300) receives an authentication request from a client and transmits an authentication result to a client. A time data extraction module(302) extracts OTP generation time data of client side which is included in the received authentication request. An OTP generation module(304) generates a server side OTP by using pre-stored authentication data or the extracted OTP generation time data. An authentication module(306) authenticates the client by comparing the client side OTP which is included in the authentication request or the server side OTP.
