<p>The present invention relates to a method for cleaning a rear roll wherein, during manufacture of a glass plate by flowing molten glass over the surface of molten tin in a molten tin bath, pulling out the molten glass as a glass ribbon from the molten tin bath into a lift-out zone under a non-oxidizing atmosphere, conveying the glass ribbon by a lift-out roll from the lift-out zone to a rear zone under an oxidizing atmosphere, and conveying the glass ribbon by a rear roll furnished in the rear zone, a defect inspection of the glass plate surface is performed, and when a defect is detected, an eliminating member for the rear roll is placed in contact against the rear roll on which the foreign matter that formed the defect has been deposited.</p> |
