Hyaluronan compounds (Q) are new. Hyaluronan compounds of formula (Q) are new. R : OH, OZ, NH2NHC(O)(CH2)pC(O)-NH-NH-, or R1aNHNHC(O)(CH 2)pC(O)NHNH-; n : 40-7500, preferably 200-4000; i : 1-n; Z : monovalent ions, such as Na +> or K +>, or Mg 2+>; p : 1-20, preferably 1-5; R1a : (1-4)-alpha-L- glucuronate of formula (A), delta -(1-4)-alpha-L- glucuronate of formula (A1), (1-4)-beta -D- glucuronate of formula (B), delta -(1-4)-beta -D- glucuronate of formula (B1), (1-4)-alpha-D-galacturonan of formula (C), delta -(1-4)-alpha-D-galacturonan of formula (C1), poly-alpha-L-glucopyranosyluronic acid and beta -D-mannopyranosyluronic acid of formula (D), delta -poly-alpha-L-glucopyranosyl uronic acid and beta -D-mannopyranosyluronic acid of formula (D1) or (D2); and m, m1, q, q1, r, r1, s, s1 : 1-150, preferably 3-30. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (Q); and (2) a composition comprising (Q) or a mixture of (Q), optionally in the presence of divalent ions other than magnesium (Mg 2+>).
