The method involves supporting a driver on a same control element in a temporary manual mode to cause either a change of ratio of transmission or a return into automatic mode before expiry of time difference of the temporary manual mode according to length of a support, where the driver is supported on the control element for short time before the expiry of the time difference of the temporary manual mode to cause reinitialization of the mode. Pulse control of rising and descending ratios is performed by vanes. An independent claim is also included for a device for checking changes of automatic transmission mode of a vehicle between a completely automatic mode and temporary manual mode.
