The method (1) involves receiving (S1) a three dimensional image data set, which has a thyroid gland of an examination object and portions of a supply vessel. The supply vessels of the thyroid gland are segmented (S2) in the three dimensional image data set. A characteristic value is received (S3), which determines one of the segmented supply vessels, through which the portion-embolization of the thyroid gland of the examination object is carried out. An independent claim is included for a device for supporting a portion-embolization of thyroid gland of an examination object.
