<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of dynamically controlling an operating voltage of a processor on the basis of a core/bus frequency of the processor.SOLUTION: It is determined whether a command that writes a value to an MSR register or the like is intended for a machine register controlling an operating voltage and/or a core/bus frequency ratio of a processor. If so, it is then determined whether a core/bus ratio requested is within an allowable range for the processor. If not, a fault condition is indicated. If so, a target Vid is calculated using a specific function. The target Vid is used to program a variable power supply of the processor.</p> |
