OBJECT DETECTION METHOD, LIDAR DEVICE, AND ENVIRONMENT MEASURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain detailed information of geological features including an object emitting weak fluorescence at a bottom of sea by using illuminating light emitted on water or in the water.SOLUTION: A LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) device 10 is suitable for taking fluorescence from an object 50 especially present at a bottom of sea. A second photomultiplier (light detection unit) 16 detects the fluorescence returned from a side of the object 50 with high sensitivity. In the LIDAR device 10, depth of the object 50 is calculated only from output of the second photomultiplier 16. Exposure timing of a camera 22 is set by a control unit 11 on the basis of a second peak in the output of the second photomultiplier 16.
