The device has a thermal generator (2) converting thermal energy into electrical power. A measuring sensor (4) is electrically coupled with the thermal generator such that the measuring sensor is operable by the electrical power produced by the thermal generator. The measuring sensor determines a measurement value. A closed housing (1) surrounds the measuring sensor. The housing is made of electrically conductive material such that an absence of interaction is ensured in an electric field. The housing comprises metal, metal alloy or electrically conductive plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a measurement value in an electrical system.
