<p>The invention relates to a novel catheter comprising an automatic shut-off valve for preventing the reverse flow of unwanted fluids and a safety cover on the needle for preventing needlestick accidents. The device can operate with any type of catheter, but it is particularly suitable for use in intravenous applications.</p>
