(Ib) is useful as surfactant in lubricating cylinders to improve the efficiency of the lubricating cylinder with respect to the speed of neutralization of the sulfuric acid formed during the combustion fuels having a sulfur content of less than 4.5 wt.% in a two-stroke marine engine. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The lubricating cylinder can be used as unique single use lubricating cylinder, for fuels having a sulfur content of less than 1.5 wt.% and greater than 3 wt.% (claimed). The lubricating cylinder exhibits improved kinetics and velocity in the neutralization of sulfuric acid. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: The lubricating cylinder has a BN value of 55 mg of potash per gram of lubricant. The lubricating cylinder further comprises functional additives comprising dispersing additives, anti-wear, anti-foam additives, anti-oxidizing additives and/or anti-rust additives. The composition comprises a dispersing additive (0.1 wt.%) of polyisobutene succinimides. Preferred Components: (Ib) is present in the composition at 0.1-2 wt.%. (Ib) comprises heavy monoalcohols having 12-24 carbon atom linear alkyl group i.e. optionally substituted by alkyl groups having 1-23 carbon atoms, preferably (Ib) is myristic, palmitic, cetyl, stearic, eicosenoic or behenic alcohol, preferably isotridecanol. The overbased detergent is carboxylate, sulfonates, salicylates, naphthenates and/or phenolates, metals comprising calcium, magnesium, sodium or barium, preferably calcium or magnesium or insoluble metal salts comprising carbonates, hydroxides, oxalates, acetates, glutamates of alkaline and alkaline earth metals, preferably calcium carbonate. The overbased detergent is present in the lubricant at >= 10 wt.%.
