<p>A backlight device (24) is provided with: an LED; a light guide plate (20) which has a light exit surface (20b) that is provided on one plate surface, an opposite surface (20c) that is provided on the other plate surface that is on the reverse side of the light exit surface (20b), and a light incident surface that is provided on one lateral surface, and which is arranged so that the light incident surface faces the LED and guides the light from the LED; a chassis (22) which has a plate surface that is arranged so as to face the opposite surface (20c), and which houses at least the LED and the light guide plate (20); and an optical sheet (18) which is arranged so as to face the light exit surface (20b) and provides the light discharged from the light guide plate (20) with an optical function, and which has a folded portion (19) that covers at least a part of the lateral surface of the light guide plate (20) by extending outward from an end edge of the light exit surface (20b) and being folded toward the opposite surface (20c) side.</p> |
