The tube (2) has a residual receiving portion (10) into which a plug-in portion (8) is insertable at an axial end (6) of an adjacent tube. The tube at another axial end (4) is folded into a pipe interior to form a multi-shed layer (24). The receiving portion includes reduced internal diameter in a region of the multi-shed layer. A radial shoulder (18) is formed in the tube. Internal diameter of the region of the multi-shed layer is smaller than internal diameter of the receiving portion. The multi-shed layer is formed by arranging abutting layers (28, 30) of the tube closed together. An independent claim is also included for a scaffolding element.
