<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base oil satisfying a viscosity region in which a fluid dynamic pressure bearing can sufficiently support loads of a rotor in a high temperature range, preventing increase of viscosity in a low temperature range, low in evaporation loss and stable in the high temperature range and the low temperature range.SOLUTION: A lubricant base oil contains monoester represented by the formula (1) consisting ofβ-alkyl branched aliphatic alcohol and aliphatic carboxylic acid.
