PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an alkaline electrolyte secondary battery, which can prevent a micro short circuit and damages of a separator upon manufacturing (assembling) an alkaline electrolyte secondary battery, and to provide an alkaline electrolyte secondary battery and a method for manufacturing an alkaline electrolyte secondary battery using the above separator for an alkaline electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: A polymeric compound soluble with an alkaline electrolyte is deposited on a porous separator so as to once clog pores of the porous separator by the polymeric compound, which reduces such a risk that a fiber collector such as a carbon fiber penetrates the porous separator. By depositing the polymeric compound, physical strength of the separator is also increased, which prevents breakage by a protrusion of an electrode. After a secondary battery is assembled, the polymeric compound is dissolved in the electrolyte and eliminated from the pores of the separator.
