1. An image forming apparatus that has an image forming mode and an image erasing mode, the apparatus comprising:
a process unit configured to perform a process of forming an image on a recording medium in the image forming mode, and to perform a process of erasing the image formed on the recording medium in the image erasing mode; a conveying unit configured to convey the recording medium to the process unit, and to discharge the recording medium after the process using the process unit to the outside of the apparatus; a display unit configured to perform an error display when a conveyance failure of the recording medium due to the conveying unit occurs; and a control unit configured to determine whether the conveyance failure is a conveyance failure in the image forming mode or a conveyance failure in the image erasing mode, and to control the display unit to change the content of the error display depending on the determination result.
