The belt has opposite ends (1, 2) including stepped abutting edges, which include a counter-rotating cut gradation upto shortly before a half of a thickness of the belt in a seam zone (3) in a width that corresponds to a width of pressing elements of a production device. The belt is made of polypropylene or polypropylene with compounds displaced without textile reinforcements with a butt joint, which transfer mechanical loads. The belt has a thickness (6) ranging from 0.65 mm to 8 mm. An inner side is coated with an antistatic surface structure (7) made of natural or artificial fibers. The mechanical load is a tensile force. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a stepped butt connection to a conveying and/or drive belt made of plastic without textile reinforcements.
