The method involves arranging a throttle element (4) in the fluid flow direction downstream of a turbine (1). The turbine is operated with a closed throttle element. The working fluid in the turbine is expanded to a pressure which is lower than the pressure downstream of the closed throttle element. The working fluid of the turbine with a pump or compressor unit from the space is fed directly to the downstream of the turbine in a space behind the closed throttle element.
