NEW REACTIVE MESOGEN COMPOUND HAVING THERMOSTABILITY AND HIGH BIREFRINGENCE AND THE METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a novel reactive mesogen compound and a manufacturing method thereof. In particular, the novel reactive mesogen compound: has properties unique to liquid crystal that the liquid crystal has a molecular orientation resulted from a polymer network formed by photopolymerization; has an excellent thermostability and a high birefringence; and is manufactured by a simple process. The novel reactive mesogen compound of the present invention is presented by [chemical formula 2] below. In [chemical formula 2] P1 and P2 are independently selected from CH_2=CH_2-, HC=C-, CH_2=CH-CH_2-, W_1HCOCH-, CH_2=CW_1-COO-, CH_2=CW_2-(O)_k1-, CH_3-CH=CH-O-, HO-CW_2W_3-, HS-CW_2W_3-, HW_2N-, HO-CW_2W_3-NH-, CH_2=CW_1-CO-NH-, CH_2=CH-(COO)_k1-Phe-(O)_k2-, Phe-CH=CH-, HOOC-, NCO-, OCN-, SCN-, and W_4W_5W_6Si-.
