Embodiments of the present invention provide a handover method based on an uplink signal, a method for configuring an uplink signal, a user equipment, and a base station. The handover method comprises: a source base station sending a trigger message to a user equipment, to trigger the user equipment to send an uplink signal used for handover; receiving a notification message sent by one or more other base stations according to detection of the uplink signal; and determining a target base station from the one or more other base stations according to the notification message, and performing handover of the user equipment. By means of the embodiments of the present invention, handover decision can be accelerated based on measurement of an uplink signal, thereby satisfying handover requirements in different scenarios.
