The system (5) has a management portion for identifying first operating parameter i.e. current operating temperature, of components e.g. direct voltage intermediate circuit (2), inverter (3) and electric machine (4), of an electric drive system (10). The second operating parameter of components of the drive system is adjusted based on identified current operating temperature of the components. Sum of operating temperatures of the components of the drive system is minimized with respect to an upper threshold value by adjusting the operating parameters of the components. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electric drive system with a direct voltage intermediate circuit (2) a method for adjusting operating parameters of the components of an electric drive system.
