716,776. Fluid pressure motors. ARNDT, F. Dec. 18, 1952 [Dec. 18, 1951], No. 32128/52. Class 110(2) A fluid pressure motor with an oscillating piston, comprises a cylinder 4 in which is mounted the piston consisting of a shaft 1, vane 2, and circular end plates 3, the cylinder being fitted with a partition 6 extending radially to the shaft 1, and with means for introducing fluid into and exhausting it from the two chambers formed by the partition and the vane. The vane extends from one plate 3 to the other and from the shaft to the cylinder wall, while the plates extend to the cylinder walls. By this construction, especially when the parts are accurately ground, pressure losses normally due to large clearances are reduced to a minimum. In a modification Fig. 3 (not shown) the vane is mounted in radial slots in the end discs and in a longitudinal groove in the shaft; helical springs in this case urge the vane outwardly against the cylinder wall. Leakage is further prevented in this case by providing interengaging circular grooves and ribs in the adjacent circular faces of the plates and cylinder. In another modification Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the end plates are carried by a boss which is keyed to the shaft. |
